You’ve got questions and we’ve got answers. With 50 years of experience under our belts we’ve compiled our most frequently asked questions for you to review.

Does Indoff make their Partners sign a non-compete agreement?

No, your customer base belongs to you. If a situation arises that would cause you to leave Indoff, your customers go with you.

Does Indoff pay a base salary?

No. To pay a base salary would require us to monitor your sales activity and this is not what we do. You bring the true value to the sale, and this is why we prefer to pay the industry’s highest commission rate, rather than pay a base salary.

How is gross profit calculated?

Gross profit equals total sell (material, labor, freight, design – if applicable) minus total costs (material, labor, freight, design). There is no load, overhead factor or other fees added. You know your commission when you quote a job.

Does Indoff require a franchise fee to become a Partner?

Indoff is not a franchise organization. You will be an employee of Indoff and there is no fee to join.

Does Indoff assign me a sales territory?

Indoff does not have territory restrictions because this limits your selling potential. We do have account protection; if you develop an account, then you should profit from the relationship.

When are commissions paid?

Commissions are paid at the end of the month following when the sale is invoiced. For example, if your sale is invoiced in January, then you are paid commission on that sale at the end of February. Commissions are paid based on invoicing, not when the customer pays.

Will I be an independent contractor?

You will be a W-2 employee of Indoff and are therefore eligible to participate in our benefits program. You will also be covered by our liability and workman’s compensation insurance.

Are leads provided?

Our growing web presence supplies project and account leads that are forwarded to Partners. We also e-mail market to customers to create leads for the Partners. Our multi-divisional structure also provides opportunities for our Partners to network and develop opportunities together.

How do I know you won’t change the commission rate?

Our commission rate has not changed since the inception of the Partner Program in 1991. Ask any of our Partners.

Are marketing materials available?

Indoff does not publish a proprietary catalog, but you will have access to various vendor catalogs. Indoff will supply you with an annual marketing budget, business cards, stationery and the opportunity to build a custom website. We also provide divisional overview slicks, line cards and will work with you on custom marketing materials.

Will I work out of my home?

The vast majority of our Partners work from their homes, however some Partners choose to rent their own office space.

Josh Long

Josh joined Indoff in 2013 as part of the acquisition of Allied Appliance, a nationwide appliance distributor. He is responsible for the day-to-day management of our appliance division that is comprised of Allied Appliance and Absocold, a manufacturer of refrigerators and microwaves that Indoff acquired in 2017.

Jim Malkus

Jim joined Indoff in 1988 after spending 5 years at Ernst & Young, where he specialized in audit and accounting for privately-held businesses. Jim is responsible for the day-to-day management of Indoff.
